How good is your solicitor?

Back to news 04 March 2010

One of the leaders in this week’s Law Society Gazette is that most people “could not tell a good lawyer from a bad one”. In a survey of almost 1,000 people, over 4 in 5 confessed they would not know what makes a decent lawyer.

Well, here at TG we have a few suggestions.

• Can you get hold of your lawyer when you need to?

• Does your lawyer return your calls?

• Does your lawyer pick up the ‘phone, rather than emailing or writing?

• Does your lawyer talk in plain English?

• Does your lawyer understand what you’re trying to achieve?

• Do you know how much a job will cost at the outset? Does your lawyer stick to his estimate?

• Does your lawyer give you practical advice?

If you answered “no” to any of the above, perhaps you should be talking to us.
