Jane Brevitt, an experienced Wills, Probate and Trusts solicitor is back in Worcester assisting Thomas Guise Solicitors with the expansion of their private client department.
Originally from Worcestershire and educated in Malvern, Jane now specialises in advising the elderly. Until recently Jane was based in Birmingham as the principal of Brevitts Solicitors, a firm that she took over from her father following his retirement. At Brevitts Jane’s qualities were recognised by fellow solicitors of the Birmingham Law Society, and she was nominated for Sole Practitioner of the Year in 2003 and 2004. Jane is also a qualified member of the National Association of Solicitors for the Elderly.
Wayne Thomas, a Director of Thomas Guise says, “We are delighted that Jane has joined the Practice, she brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise, which will enable us to provide existing and future clients with a top class service.”
Jane says of her chosen area of law, “It is common knowledge that the UK has an ageing population and I would urge everyone to give some thought to their future. People’s financial situations are far more complex than they were a few years ago and every situation is different. For instance, there can be children from previous relationships, family business issues, or more than one home to consider, including aboard. Also, the value of property these days means that many of us will leave an Inheritance Tax liability of forty percent if our assets are worth more than £300,000.”
Jane goes on to say, “It is vitally important that these issues are dealt with by a comprehensive Will linked to Inheritance Tax planning designed to minimize the tax payable on death. The Government provides clear guidelines about what can or cannot be done and these change regularly. We work within these guidelines to provide the best long-term solution whilst protecting your assets.”
“It is tempting to put off action until some time in the future, but you do this at your peril. It takes less time than you think to make proper provision for the future and once you have done it, you will have real peace of mind, knowing that you have done your best for your loved ones,” advises Jane.
Jane is available to see clients at the ground floor interview rooms of Thomas Guise Solicitors offices and is also happy to visit clients in their own homes if they are unable to make the journey to the firm’s offices in Foregate Street.
